FLUFFY WREATH OF POMPONS

Late fall. Now is the time to knit warm socks, fluffy scarves or make New Year's, winter-like holiday and cozy crafts. Today I invite you to make a soft wreath of white pompoms and balls with me. This wreath will decorate your door (but not the outside), or will become a charming decoration for a table candle. It can serve as a Christmas present for a loved one. And, finally, he alone is an elegant decoration of the living room.
Materials and execution
For the manufacture of wreaths, ready-made foam rings are best suited. They are bought in craft shops. These rings are lightweight, durable, they perfectly hold everything that decorators wound and glue on them. Do not confuse, please, foam rings for crafts with floral sponge rings. The florists have a green sponge, and we need a pure white ring. Unfortunately, I managed to buy only one ring and I already used it for another, knitted wreath, which I will lay out soon. I will make a “pomponous” wreath in the old fashioned way - on a cardboard basis. There she is. This is a cardboard ring the size of a pan lid (it served as a template due to the lack of compasses).

A cardboard ring should be entwined with a synthetic winterizer ribbon, however, any white fleecy material is suitable for this: cotton wool, white fluffy threads, felt, fabric. This winding will serve as the basis for gluing balls and white pompons.

Pompons are harvested the day before in large quantities. They can be quite large in diameter - up to 3 cm, but can be very small - up to 0.5 cm. The texture of balls and pompons can also be different, the main thing is that they all be white and more or less round.

In our wreath are used:
• handmade pompons (an easy way I will describe a little lower);
• cotton balls from a pharmacy;
• plush pompoms from the craft shop;
• foam decorative beads and balls;
• curly cotton wool for winter decoration of premises.
Harvesting pompons - quick and easy
Pompons are made in a simplified and quick way. Making dozens of pompons and pompons of different sizes in the traditional way (using two rings) is difficult and time consuming. We just wrap on two or even all four legs of the chair fluffy threads for knitting, about a thickness of a sausage. In the same way as a sausage, we will knit the yarn at a distance of 5 cm. In total we get 18-40 hauls, depending on how many legs weave the yarn. This fluffy "sausage" is removed from the legs of the chair and cut with scissors between the hooks. It turns out quite decent pompons that can only be fluffed up. The more often you make weights, the less pompons will be. We’ll prepare 60 pieces, and you can proceed to sticker the fluffy balls on the wreath.
Gluing balls on a wreath
At first, you can stick to a certain system, and then just fill in the empty spaces on the base with balls and pompons. Glue the balls on a thick adhesive like PVA. Some pompons do not want to stick, but this is easy to fix by fixing them with pins with heads. The gaps between the pom-poms that remain, despite the fairly tight bonding, we will fill with foam balls, dipping each of them in glue and firmly pressing to the base. They are well glued to any material. To get the texture of a real snowdrift, it is recommended to fill even the smallest intervals with curly decorative cotton wool - it gives the composition an airy softness. Cotton wool does not need to be glued: on a fleecy basis, it perfectly pulls without adhesive. Now our wreath looks like a snow cloud. We leave it to dry overnight, and in the morning - remove the pins and experiment with other elements of the decor.

Here all my variations are collected: combinations of "white-white", "white-red" and "white-red-red". (pictures) This is a matter of taste. You will probably get something special, absolutely amazing! Want to try?
