A good straightening metal hammer to buy is not a problem. But, firstly, it still needs to be found in a store or in the market (so that it really is good). Secondly, straightening hammers are not the cheapest tool, and for excellent quality they will have to fork out.

However, as always, there is an alternative option - for example, to make a simple straightening hammer with your own hands from rubbish, which in any workshop or garage is "even a dime a dozen."

To make a straightening hammer, you will need old ball bearings from the car (for strikers), a long hairpin, and also trimming round metal pipes. There is usually always plenty of this stuff in the home workshop, garage or in the country.

The main stages of work

First of all, it is necessary to trim the ball joints with a grinder, leaving only a part of the "heads". Then they must be welded at the ends of a piece of round pipe. To make it convenient, it is better to clamp the workpieces in a bench vise.

Then the welds will need to be processed on an emery or cleaned with a grinder with a petal circle. And the surface of the strikers of the straightening hammer also needs to be smoothed out by grinding.

In the next step, it will be necessary to cut off a piece of a hairpin and a steel bar. Then they will need to be welded together end to end (end to end). The resulting workpiece must be welded to a piece of pipe with strikers. Welds must be cleaned with a grinder.

In the upper part and in the middle of the handle of the hammer, two bushings from a round pipe are welded. Then a hole is drilled in the head with the strikers, balls of steel with a copper coating are added inside. The hole is then brewed.

At the last stage, a wooden handle is made and metal is polished and polished. For details on how to make a simple straightening hammer from trash, see the video on the site.
