With the help of homemade powerful bench vise it is very convenient to work with round pipes of different diameters - to perform cutting, grinding and other machining. It is not at all difficult to make this locksmith vise with your own hands.
This will require standard products of black metal: channel, strip, corner, etc. The first step is to make the vise clamping jaws. We cut three pieces of steel strip, one of which is welded in the center of the channel.
Then it will be necessary to weld the corner edge down. The remaining two strips of metal are welded along the edges of the corner, and the other side to the edges of the channel. Four end caps (two for each sponge) must be cut from a piece of plate.
The main stages of work
We cut off two pieces of an equal-angled corner with a thickness of at least 3 mm, and then weld to them one segment of a strip of metal so that in the end we get two "bars" of a triangular shape. We weld them to two ordinary corners, in which you need to drill one hole in the center.
A screw with four nuts, welded together in pairs, is inserted into the holes in the corners. Then, on the sides of the base of the vice from the inside - to the triangular "bars" two pieces of the corner are welded, which are welded on both sides by plates.
