If the old chopping board made of wood is cracked or has an inappropriate appearance, then making a new one will not be difficult. The standard design of the cutting board has a square or rectangular shape, but in this case there are no strict criteria - if you wish, you can draw any contours by hand.

To make a cutting board, you need a regular wooden board. You can use solid or glued. A board made of solid wood (oak, beech, hornbeam, etc.) is considered the most practical and durable option. However, preforms glued from individual fragments are less prone to deformation.

Preparatory work

If you decide to make a new cutting board in the shape of the old one, then first simply outline the contours of the product that is at hand, and then cut out the wooden blank of the desired size.

But you can make a cutting board "from scratch" - for this you need to come up with the desired shape or, for example, download the finished template from the Internet, and then cut the workpiece using a jigsaw.

Mechanical restoration

Further, too, everything is very simple. We pass the wooden workpiece through the thicknesser or plan on the planer to remove unevenness on the surface. Then round the edges of the board using a grinder with a grinding disc.

At the last stage, we process the surface of the cutting board manually with sandpaper (you can perform this work with the help of a power tool). If desired, the finished product can be soaked with mineral oil.

You can just do it yourself with a wooden chopping board for your kitchen. The main stages of work, see the video on our website.
