If you need to drill a lot of holes in plywood or chipboard, for this work, in order to save time, it is best to make a home-made perforated panel with holes already marked. And, using a drill, you can drill about 800 holes in a wooden surface in less than one hour.
Materials and milestones
For this homemade product you will need a piece of sheet metal of suitable sizes (for example, you can take a sheet of aluminum 1 mm thick). If such material is not at hand, then a plain steel sheet of similar thickness will do.
Then you need to make markings on the surface of an aluminum or steel plate with the desired step. If the farm does not have a caliper, then everything is elementary done using the usual ruler and awl - so to speak, using the "grandfather method".
Please note that if you use a plate made of sheet steel, then the surface needs to be corroded, but you can use an awl for an aluminum billet, since the material itself is quite soft.
Preparing a template for drilling holes
Next, we go directly to the process of perforation of a metal plate. To do this, in the drill chuck we fix a drill with a diameter of 2 mm. When the holes are drilled, the surface of the template must be cleaned with sandpaper.
Using this home-made device, you can drill a large number of holes of the diameter you need as quickly and accurately as possible, without making markings directly on the surface of plywood or chipboard. The main stages of the work can be seen in the video on our website.
