Why do people paint on their car calipers and rear brake drums? These parts are made of cast iron, under the constant action of high temperature, the factory coating simply burns, exposing the surface of the metal, which is subject to corrosion. Painting calipers is more aesthetic than practical.

The color of the old fire bucket does not give the car charisma, but for some reason such people are not translated, the choice of color does not look like juicy red like the Brembo company for example. Why not choose a really beautiful color (silver, graphite), which visually ennobles the knot, without any association with the collective farm. And one more nuance: the paint must be special heat-resistant (the brake mechanism heats up to 100 ° C, and the disk to 300 ° C).
The easiest way to paint yourself is to use aerosol cans. Practice shows that high-quality aerosols are enough for two calipers or drums for sure. This coating falls on bare metal, but rust must be removed anyway. An effective way to prepare for painting is to treat the surface with a wire brush using a drill, so the metal is cleaned to a shine. In hard-to-reach places and completely neglected cases, when the corrosion is deep, a rust converter can be used immediately before painting.

Before using aerosols, you should read the instructions, heat-resistant paints are not dried as simple (often by heating the surface to a certain temperature). If the calipers are removed, be careful when using an iron brush so as not to lift the cuffs of the working cylinder on the mechanism (if this still happened, the cuff must be changed immediately). Aerosol is poisonous, it is better to do all the work on the street.
