When working with drills for metal, using an electric drill or a drilling machine, there is a certain pattern: the more holes you drill, the more often you have to sharpen drills.
Many people prefer to sharpen the cutting edge manually, but this is not very convenient, and it is problematic to maintain the correct angle of sharpening, and it does not always work out.
And therefore, for convenient sharpening of drill bits for metal, the author proposes to make a simple wooden stand. For its manufacture, it is better to use hardwood. But, in principle, if there is nothing suitable at hand, everything that is in the workshop will do.
The process of making a wooden stand
The device consists of two main parts: a wooden bar with "grooves" for drills and a square plank (you can use plywood), to which the bar will be attached. In general, this platform will serve to fix the adaptation to the table with a clamp.
First of all, you need to draw a line on the bar at the desired angle (in this case, this is an angle of 116 degrees). On this line it will be necessary to make a cut with a hacksaw for metal.
After this, the resulting cut must be additionally cut with a file. The master uses the most common file for square metal. Moreover, the larger the notch, the better.
At the last stage, it remains only to finalize the "groove" with emery cloth, and then screw the block itself to the base. For more information on how to make a wooden stand for convenient sharpening drill bits for metal, see the video on the site.
